Winfield West Bed & Breakfast is Open

May 28, 2020 by Regina Nord-Tone

We look forward to welcoming our guests back.

We know the Covid-19 pandemic has been very difficult for our country and our world. We are taking every health and safety precaution to make sure that you are comfortable staying with us.  We’ve always been very stringent with our cleaning, but we have stepped it up even more.

We will still offer our full gourmet breakfast each morning.  If we have multiple house guests, appropriate spacing will be followed. Prearranged dining times will also be available at your request.  On beautiful days, our front porch and back patio will be open for wonderful outdoor breakfasts.  Masks and gloves will be worn when we prepare and serve food, as required by the health department.

Downtown Jasper is just a short stroll away for browsing many unique shoppes. Many of Jasper’s restaurants are open for dining-in or takeout.  Please feel free to bring takeout food back to our home and enjoy in our dining room or outdoor patio.

We have many wonderful walking paths, nature hikes, golf courses and other outdoor areas around town to enjoy.  If you’re ready for a short getaway, we hope to see you soon!

Merry Christmas from the Winfield West Bed & Breakfast.

Tis the season to be thankful and joyful.20161127_183433

Wow!  What a wonderful first full year as innkeepers. We want to thank everyone that has made 2016 a success at the Winfield West Bed & Breakfast  . We’ve met so many wonderful and interesting people…either as guests staying with us or people in the community who’ve come to visit.

Last year was one of exciting changes for our bed and breakfast and we hope to continue to make many more changes in the coming year. Due to overwhelming growth this year, we see a need to expand. So that we can accommodate more guests, our main goal is to add a fourth guestroom on the main floor.  This will be especially nice for guests who find climbing steps to the second floor challenging.  Stay tuned as we announce other changes that we feel will make your experience as guest here more enjoyable.

We hope to have the privilege of meeting many new guests in the coming year and seeing many previous guests return and stay with us again.

From our home to yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas season. May your New Year bring health, happiness and prosperity.

It has been a long hard first year!  Fred and I arrived on a cold wintery day with our first truckload of furniture and belongings on February 28, 2015. My family was here to greet us and help unload. Five days later on March 5 we arrived with our second truck during a snowstorm.  After 8” of snow had fallen we had to dig out so the movers could unload the truck.  That was just the beginning!

Now came the hardest part.  Refurbishing the house and transforming it to the new look of the Winfield West Bed and Breakfast.  We did not know where to begin.  Color schemes, furniture, linens and most importantly the kitchen?  Updating the kitchen was first and foremost on the list. For me, the kitchen has always been the heart and soul of a home.

It all took time, patience and help from our sister-in-law and niece to help guide and keep us going.  It has been an incredibly steep learning curve for us, even wondering at times if we had made a mistake. However, Fred and I are quite proud of what we have been able to accomplish the past year. There are still countless hours of work to be done and many changes yet to be made, but we are off to a great start!

Come celebrate with us at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on March 11 at 3:00 pm  and Open House at the Winfield West Bed and Breakfast on March 11 & 12.

Register to win a gift certificate at our Open House for one free night stay double occupancy at the Winfield West Bed & Breakfast.

My Family Roots

January 28, 2016 by Regina Nord-Tone

Hello everyone! I’m Regina, one of your hosts at Winfield West B&B and I want to welcome you to our blog, “Our Sweet Home.” This blog will cover what’s new and happening at Winfield West B&B, recipes, and special events. Being this is my first blog, I want to start by telling you a little about myself.

I grew up with wonderful parents in a large family, one of 12 children, on a dairy farm about 20 miles south of Jasper. We had little, but we were blessed with a lot. I was number 10 of seven girls and five boys. My brothers made sure I was rough and tough. I had to work on the farm, up many mornings by 4 am milking the dairy cattle. I drove tractors, hauled coal to our furnace and many outdoor chores. My main love was cooking with my mother. She was a wonderful cook and always trying new recipes. For Christmas when I was very young, I got an Easy Bake Oven. This was when my passion for baking began. Growing up in a large farm family my mother cooked three meals a day. A fresh baked dessert was made daily, so there was a lot of baking at the family farm kitchen.

Our home had many visitors as the family grew with in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends that we brought home. There was always plenty of food on the table for whoever wandered in. How did my parents do it? We had a very large garden and all of our own meat. Summertime was spent planting, growing and canning or freezing vegetables for the winter. Our pantry was always stocked, and everything was freshly made in our kitchen.

I wanted to carry on my mom’s traditions, passion for cooking, and her genuine love of having family and visitors in her home. Following in my Mother’s footsteps, everything served at the Winfield West B&B is freshly prepared in our kitchen.
